- Tracy and David. Thank you for my purchase. I believe the decision to buy a Writco Antiscramble Calypso float is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I decided to buy an antiscramble float because my best horse, Aloha Desert Opal, had turned into a very bad scrambler in my old standard float. Even when I crawled around corners at 2 km/hour, her feet would be scraping badly on the side walls and she would arrive at our destination in a lather of sweat. I knew it was only a matter of time before she went down in the float. So I stopped taking her out. We live in mountain forest country and the roads are rough gravel, steep and windy. They also have mounds built across them to divert water flow. I did a fair bit of research on different floats, including talking to owners of various brands. Then I went and checked out the float builders, including the only other manufacturer to Writco, who build this style of float. From the start, I was impressed with the professionalism of Tracy and David at Writco. They were real horse people who custom build good quality floats and they know what horse owners need. They took the time to properly explain things to me. I ordered a Calypso Antiscramble float, with some extras to make camping away at Endurance Rides or Camp drafting more comfortable. The completed float is quite beautiful and very functional, without having any safety issues or user problems to operate. Last weekend, with some trepidation, I loaded my darling scrambler into the right hand bay, hoping to take her to an endurance ride about 90 minutes drive from our place. I brought the adjustable chest bar back against her chest for added support. I stayed in the float with her, while my husband drove slowly forward a few yards. Out of habit, Opal panicked immediately and pushed her rump backwards onto the rump bar and into the centre partition and all her legs went in the opposite direction towards the side wall. My husband stopped driving, but Opal stayed frozen like that for about 3 minutes. Her legs were stiff and straight and close together at a sharp angle to her body. I could not get her to move anything, let alone pick up a leg to bring it back under her body. So we decided to pull her adjustable side bar further out from the wall, so she would have even more support for her body. The other horse just stood calmy but Opal was too terrified to move. We could not unload her as she had too much weight back onto the rump bar. Finally, she relaxed enough to stand properly again with her legs under her body and I physically spread her front legs for her. When we drove a few more metres, she still threw her weight back and onto the centre partition, but her legs were wider apart and not as far out from under her body. It took us about 20 minutes to drive the first klm, stopping regulary to let Opal think about things. She gradually was learning that she had plenty of room to spread her legs in this float and that there was additional support for her body. I could hardly believe how smooth the ride was in this float compared to my float with slipper suspension. That float was so rough and jerky traversing the mounds across our road. It was also great not having all the dust to breathe in. The air vents in the roof and Gas lift rear door kept everything nice, cool and clean. Opal arrived safely at our destination and she was not even sweating. The last time I took her out in the old open sided float, she almost scraped the kickboards off, and arrived lathered in sweat and the dust had turned to mud on her coat and she was blowing muddy mucous out of her nostriles. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! Opal did very well in her ride and finished with a heart rate of 36. Thanks Guys we are less stressed and we are sure so is Opal!! Our ride home was even more of an improvement and we are sure every trip will only build her confidence, now there is no stopping us!! Jill Moss, Boonhah Qld 0408 701 184

- Hi David and Tracy. Thank you for your patience and time you spent explaining the benefits in buying a Writco Float. Living in Cairns, limits us to doing all our enquiries via email and phone calls. Your knowledge and expertise in explaining what to look for in a quality float was invaluable. Tha other companies we approached, which were well recognised brands, treated us like a number and did not have the time to explain the benefits about their floats, but were quick to rubbish the other brands. On collecting our trailer we were very impressed with the attention to detail and the high quality of finish and we knew we had made the right decision. We were ready to buy from our local horse manufacturer up here, but after being told by them that we did'nt need this item and that and that we did'nt need to spend "that" much money on a horse float, we, personally were more than happy with a Writco Horsefloat. We have since compared our float with a friends locally made product, and we believe you get what you really pay for!!! The looks and comments we get when we go to meeting and events is testimonial to the product you build. I did not realise the number of Writco Floats up here. To all Cairns residents who are looking to buy a horsefloat and want the best quality and the very best built Horse float, give us a call and we will be more than happy to show you our pride and joy. You will not be disappointed, and even though we never met David and Tracy, they made us comfortable with our choice, and took care of everything professionally and quickly without hassle. - Hi guys, Thank-you for the Saturday afternoon handover of my float. When I used the float for the first time , I took my horse and a friends horse to a round yard agout 10kms away. The float was easy to attach and it towed really well. I could'nt even feel the horses or the float behind my car. My horse has sooo much room, and I know the float is safe and strong, especially as I researched all the floats in Queensland. Of all the brochures, specs and even my own comprised graph on who had what, etc, I decided the features, inclusions and way the float is built and engineered, was the reason I bought a Writco. I have had many comments from the club, and owners of other brands are now seeing the differences in our floats. One man could'nt believe the attention to detail, and finish on my float compared to his. Thank-you for un surpassed customer service, and patience with my many questions. - Tracy and David, I just wanted to let you know how thrilled I am with my new Millennium. I appreciate the time you took to decide on a float to suit my needs. The horses travel so well I never feel them behind me and I travel often from Gympie to Bundaberg to clinics. My fellow arrives in great condition, and is not stressed or tired out from the trip. I will not hesitate to recommend your service and floats to anyone in the market to buy a well made, safe one. Thank-you again for your producing a great product which I can trust. - Once again our tried and true method of purchasing has proven to be invaluable. We researched all and sundry before settling on a Writco Float, countless hours on the phone, Internet and talking to other float owners. Right from the first time we spoke to Tracy, we felt at home, we were not treated like tyre kickers, no question was too much trouble and we were given a great deal of attention on all occasions we had to ring. A major concern was the distance they were away from us, during construction and after sales, but the professional manner in which they conducted themselves assured us everything would be fine, and it was. We write this letter a full 1 year after our purchase of our float so as to have a true evaluation of the float. From the moment we hooked onto it with our Nissan X-Trail to bring it back from Cairns to Mareeba, I knew that my choice was a good one. It towed like a float that was built by somesone that knows horses, it traveled like it should and fuel economy was only slightly higher than our trip down to Cairns without it. Now with a year behind us, and quite a few trips up and down the MillaMilla and Kuranda ranges with 2 horses and still the same car, it is apparent that the attention to detail that Writco puts into its floats ensure that operation is as smooth as silk, even our dear Roxy who generally hates travel, happily trots onto the Writco and never a peep comes out of her, previously we had been sure she was a scrambler!! Others have commented how modifications they have made to their new floats are standard on a Writco. Our friend who bought the float from Beachmere to Cairns for us, and who has owned many floats, his first words when he got out of his car was " this is a bloody beaut, I wish i had known about Writco". You see he had recently purchased a rival float brand, and was not satisfied, especially now he had towed mine!!! My wife, Gai who previously was uncomfortable about towing, hooks up and goes. Of great importance is the ease that the Writco can be reversed, this due to a decent drawbar, and the fact David runs heavy machinery and definately knows how trailers should perform. Our float generates attention everywhere we go and we recommend them 100%, as we are now part of the family. Thank you Writers, we are estatic with our float, and will be up grading to another Writco, maybe a gooseneck? Rob and Gai Zangrande Mareeba Qld 4092 4777 0417 072 678
- Hi David and Tracy, I just wanted to write to say thank you for our wonderful custom designed Calypso anti-scramble float. We have a horse who has always been a problem to float in the past, but now he loads and unloads like a dream. The first time it took one and a half hours to load, the second time one hour, and after that I think that he realised that travelling in the float was actually not so bad anymore, and now he just walks straight in. Thanks also for accomodating our somewhat changeable needs, and for coming up with a design that can accomodate not only our two horses, but a horse and completely assembled sulky as well! - Hi David and Tracy, Clint and I would just like to say to people looking as purchasing a float to seriously consider Writco. We have found that upon doing a great deal of research, and looking into other brands that we felt the purchase of the Majestic 5 was the right decision for us. We had a few friends take a look at the site and all the specifications, that do engineering work themselves and they were very impressed with the materials used and the attention to detail. We need a strong float and were looking for a float to last a long time and one that could cope with our road conditions. Half of the floats built today, can not handle rough roads and are more suited to bitumen travelling. We then went on to the stage of ordering and like many of Writco's customers live no-where near their premises, and have had to do everything over the phone and fax, which has been alot of trial and error, but in the long run we came out with the extras in our float that are both functional and practical. We live approximately 60km out of Clermont on the Alpha road, and regularly travel this rather ordinary section of dirt road. We can happily report that the float handles this road extremely well, whether it be raining, dry and covered in potholes, or passing roadtrains which are stuck and we have to go off road in 4 wheel drive to get around!! We regularly travel to campdrafts, and polocross in Central Queensland and our horses always travel well and with plenty of room to spare, 2 horses and all the extra equipment we need to take. We have had alot of comments from a large variety of horse people, impressed by the standard of finish of the float and like us all they can see the quality, and thought that has gone into creating a fuctional and practical float. Thank-you David and Tracy for helping us to get it right!! Clint and Sharon Fletcher Banchory Station 07 4983 5339
